Training




The Palestine Fire Department  in conjunction with East Texas Council of Governments and the National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (TEEX) held a regional radio interoperability functional exercise on September 12th and 13th.  Several departments from each of the 14 counties and 98 jurisdictions in our COG participated in the two day event.  The purpose of the drill was to test cross band radio repeaters during a simulated attack involving weapons of mass destruction.  According to PFD training officer Randal Shoulders the drill was a success.   





Fire Department personnel were presented an Operation Lifesaver Class by Union Pacific Railroad representative Wesley Holloway.  Following a lecture fire personnel were given a tour of the rail yard and training involving locomotives.




Sixteen members of the Palestine Fire Department participated in open water dive training classes.




Personnel of the Palestine Fire Department attended a HAZMAT Technician Upgrade class presented by TEEX instructor Patty Spalek and  Nick Harmon.  Two classes were taught over a four day period at Station 1 and the training field at Station 4.   





Approximately 35 fire and law enforcement personnel attended a  Clandestine Drug Lab class presented by TEEX Instructor Patty Spalek at PFD Station 1.



Approximately 50 people attended a  Hazmat Awareness class sponsored by the Palestine Fire Department and presented by TEEX Instructor Patty Spalek at the Texas National Guard Armory in Palestine.
