Lt. Jimmy Cross recently retired from the Palestine Fire Department following a career of 30 years and 10 months. Lt. Cross began employment with the department as a Firefighter in 1977 and retired at the rank of Lieutenant in April of 2008. Personnel and former retirees had a retirement party for Lt. Cross including a dinner, gifts and a roast of the retiree. Below are pictures of that gathering. As a retirement gift coworkers presented Lt. Cross with a recliner and several gag gifts. The department would like to wish Jimmy a heartfelt congratulations on his retirement.
Lt. Eddie Parker recently retired from the Palestine Fire Department following a career of over 29 years. Lt. Parker began employment with the department as a Firefighter in May of 1977 and retired at the rank of Lieutenant in January of 2007. Personnel and former retirees had a retirement party for Lt. Parker including a dinner, gifts and a roast of the retiree. Below are pictures of that gathering. As a retirement gift coworkers presented Lt. Parker with a rifle, scope, cleaning kit and transport case. The department would like to wish Eddie a heartfelt congratulations on his retirement.
The Palestine Fire Department purchased a new cargo trailer for transporting the equipment used for the Fire Prevention Program. This trailer and several other Fire Prevention items were purchased using funds awarded to PFD by FEMA's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program
![]() The Palestine Fire Department has placed into service a 2005 Ford Expedition. This unit is operated by Fire Marshal Alan Wilcher and carries equipment used to investigate fire scenes.

The Palestine Fire Department has taken delivery of a new E-One Class A Pumper. This unit will replace Engine 2 at Station 2 located on Seventh St.

The Palestine Fire Department has been awarded a fire prevention grant in the amount of $ 27,482.00. U.S. Senator John Cornyn and Texas Congressman Jeb Hensarling advised Fire Department officials of the good news last week. The grant proposal was researched and written by David Giles and members of the PFD Fire Prevention Team. This grant was submitted to the Department of Homeland Security and underwent a competitive scoring process against thousands of other grant proposals. The funds given in this grant will be used to aid the Fire Prevention Team in providing updated, informative and entertaining programs to people of all ages in our local area and surrounding counties.
